Bobi Worlds Oldest Dog Or a Fraud

The dog, bobi worlds oldest dog or a fraud, died on October 21, 2023. Bobi’s demise was just as much publicized as most celebrity deaths are, but it didn’t come as a surprise. Bobi was 31 years and 163 days (or 217 in human years), and he old. In fact he was an old dog that was crowned the “oldest dog ever” by Guinness World Record, the authority.

Or is it? Soon after Bobi’s death, experts started wondering if his time in the world was over, due to his old age. Veterinarian Danny Chambers told The Guardian, “No one of my veterinary colleagues believes that Bobi was 31 years old.” For the Guinness Book of Records to remain credible, they would have to release some irrefutable evidence.

Here, the reputation of the world’s leading Irish dry stout record keeper was at stake. Someone had to come up with the facts concerning the oldest dog to ever have lived. That it was me. Are you enjoying the Bobi Worlds Oldest Dog Or a Fraud news? Please let us know.

Key Points of Bobi Worlds Oldest Dog Or a Fraud

  • Oldest Dog Passes Away: Bobi, the world’s oldest dog, has died at the age of 31 years and 165 days.
  • Record Holder: Bobi’s longevity set a Guinness World Record for being the oldest dog ever.

I thought I could send a quick email to Guinness World Records and they would clear this up. This is an agency that approved the fastest time to eat banana with handless (17.82 seconds) and the longest human tunnel traveled through by a dog skater (30 pairs of legs). Guinness World Records has been keeping track of the stinkiest flowers, widest mouths, and the largest chicken nuggets for more than 60 years. The oldest horses, cats, flags, trees, headstanders, llamas (in captivity) and receipts for working post offices and road surfaces were all in there. Dating the planet’s oldest dog? Piece of cake!

A reply from Alina Polianskaya, a PR executive at GWR, followed my initial inquiry into the validity of the record where she stated, ” We are aware of the questions surrounding the legitimacy of the record and are reviewing them”. To this, I inqu Is she able to tell me anything about the review?

“I’ll be in touch when we have more to tell”, I answered to the second email from Polianskaya. Maybe, she thought that a senior writer WIRED would have other better ways to find the truth about the oldest dog in the world. Are you enjoying the Bobi Worlds Oldest Dog Or a Fraud news? While Polianskaya might not have known that she was writing to a journalist with an extremely high threshold for low-stakes stories, the reporter once employed a crew of stamp-collectors to track down package of fake false teeth sent to the suburbs of Manchester, England. In my third email, Polianskaya responded, “we will not have anything more to tell until review has ended.” The fourth letter, however, remained unanswered.

Fortunately, GWR had left me a trail to be found. In the February 2023 post it noted that Bobi’s age had been confirmed against the Portuguese government database, SIAC, which is responsible for registration of cats, dogs, and yes… ferrets.

“Eurico Cabral, a coordinator at SIAC, confirmed to me that a dog called Bobi was indeed registered with SIAC on the 3rd day of July, 2022,”. Case closed, I thought. Then Cabral dropped a bombshell. Are you enjoying the Bobi Worlds Oldest Dog Or a Fraud news? Please let us know.

The holder of the animal declared at that time that it was born in 1992, but we have no document or data that can prove this statement. Now this was intriguing. However, the GWR piece argued that SIAC had verified whether Bobi was born in 1992, but it only established that Bobi’s owner reported that he was born in 1992. Moreover, Cabral remarked in another email, SIAC had never been contacted by GWR to corroborate the information. Don’t forget to visit the latest news at The Best Dog House.

Cabral revelation had uncovered the case, but it had not revealed any conclusive answers. Portugal did not make the registration of dogs born before 2008 mandatory until October 2020 meaning Bobi could really have been born in 1992 but his owner simply didn’t have the paperwork to prove this. It was time to call for the big dogs.

Enikő Kubinyi, an expert on dog longevity at Eötvös Loránd University in Hungary, is not certain that Bobi reached 31 years. She says that it is very hard to age the dogs accurately. Veterinary records may be inaccurate or unavailable, dogs change masters frequently, and it is very hard to age a dog only by physical appearance. Sometimes dogs die at home and their vet records are never updated, which means that Kubinyi sees dogs being 40 and older.
